Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency’s Head Start program is a federally funded, preschool program for children ages 2 1/2 to 5 years old. Wayne Metro Head Start is a comprehensive family program designed to meet the needs of the entire family. The program serves income-eligible families residing in the communities of all the Grosse Pointes, Harper Woods, Hamtramck and Highland Park.
Free for families that meet federal income guidelines. Some over-income families accepted.
Waiting List Policy
Registration is ongoing throughout the school year. As soon as a space is available, families on the waiting list are contacted. While on the waiting list, families are still invited to participate in family literacy events and special activities that the program provides.

Wayne Metro Head Start is a comprehensive family program with opportunities for the entire family to participate. Program events and activities focus on literacy and parent involvement.
